In August 2017, senior and youth members of International Pugwash met in Astana, Kazakhstan, for the 62nd Pugwash Conference – ‘Confronting New Nuclear Dangers’ (multimedia here).
Russian Pugwash has recently published a selection of papers from the conference, in their new publication ‘Global and regional security issues and prospects for cooperation’.
Within the collection is a paper by Kevin Miletic (SOAS) – a leading member of Student/Young Pugwash UK – on ‘The Role of Conventional Weapons in the Nuclear Disarmament Equation’ (p.14 – here)
SYP UK Coordinator, Andrew Gibson, also presented a paper at the 62nd Pugwash Conference. The paper was on the rise of so-called ‘fake news’ and how experts in the Pugwash community can respond. The paper, based on original research, can be found here.
