Annual Lecture with Professor Paul Rogers, 25 June

You are invited to our annual lecture on Thursday 25 June at 17.00.

This will be followed by our AGM (for British Pugwash members) at 18.15.

To join either or both events, please register using this zoom link.

The annual lecture will be given by Professor Paul Rogers. His talk is entitled: ‘The World We Have Versus the World We Need’

Paul will provide an analysis of the triple problem facing us – a deeply divided world of runaway wealth and mass marginalisation facing environmental limits to growth at a time of excess militarisation. This will be followed by a discussion of the policies and actions required in response, both nationally and globally, and suggestions as to how best to make the transition.

Paul is Emeritus Professor of Peace Studies at Bradford University and an Honorary Fellow of the Joint Service Command and Staff College (JSCSC). He has lectured regularly at senior UK defence colleges for almost forty years and has been an External Examiner for the MA programmes at the Royal College of Defence Studies and JSCSC. Paul lectures on changing drivers of international conflict with particular interests in the Middle East and paramilitary violence, and also has a long-term research interest in the interaction between socioeconomic marginalisation, climate disruption and security.

I hope you can join us and look forward to seeing you there.
